A post from one of our new volunteer rangers, Richard.
Early this week the Trust installed several wooden frames on Northchurch Common with notices asking people to keep to the wide paths to avoid disturbance to skylarks nests. By the next day four notices had been removed, and today I have been given more notices by Emily to replace them.
I have in the past also replaced some bird nesting notices at Northchurch Common car parks. Some people seem intent on removing these. One good thing, the grass and thistles are growing well, should help to deter dogs from trampling over the grass where skylarks and meadow pipits are nesting.
