Never heard birdsong like that in Ashridge!

Good point Richard. The woods at Ashridge seem to be devoid of birds and birdsong for long periods of the year. I can’t make it out. We know that songbird numbers have fallen significantly over recent years in the U K , so Ashridge is no exception. Greenfinches are currently in a steep decline due to a disease picked up from stale food on bird tables.
